• As a Pastry Cook a typical day will include:
  • Handles complex baking, dough production as well as dessert plating with precision.
    
  • Operates specific stations independently with minimal supervision
    
  • Assists with daily inventory and ingredient ordering
    
  • Assists with daily organizing, labeling, proper rotation of pastry items, cleaning as well as delivery receiving
    
  • May guide, train or supervise entry level staff
    
  • Executes specialized pastry items, fillings, icings, ice creams and decorations
    
    
  • Creates high-end customized welcome amenities for luxury guests including chocolate bon bons and house made treats
    
  • Strong communication between team members is encouraged
    

To Become a Pastry Cook at AAH:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
  
• Must have at least three (3) years' experience in bakery production. General understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
  
• Basic knowledge of how to produce cakes, tarts, mousses, batters, doughs, custards, frostings, and ice creams. Must have basic cake decorating skills. Must have basic math skills to produce correct sized batches. Must have flexible schedule and be able to work all weekends and all holidays.
  
• At least three (3) years of experience in restaurants and catering. Hard work and efficient with time. An ability to handle multiple prep or cooking tasks simultaneously in the most efficient manner. Efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision.
  
• Strong command of the English language (written and oral) to the understanding of customers, guests, and co-workers.
  
• Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  
• Culinary education is preferred.
  
• Stand for long periods of time / 8 hours.
  
• Walk extended distances / up to 8 hours.
  
• Lift/carry 5-25 lbs.
